The covid19 situation had brought the whole world on a halt, leaving no areas untouched. From entertainment, business to sports as well had to take a step back and pause for a while, where cricket was no exception. Many big leagues and international tournaments had to either postponed or cancelled this year due to the horrific pandemic.
However, with things getting slightly better and people accepting this as a new normal, avenues started to open and so did cricket. England hosted the first series against West Indies later in the month of July, followed by matches against Pakistan. The Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2020) will be the first league to kick start on August 18 behind the closed doors. Although, playing around an empty pavilion will not hamper the excitement factor as the CPL has a record of having an ensemble of exciting and phenomenal cricketers around the world.
We list the Top 5 players and few of the greatest T20 players around the world and the Jamaican who registered some highest scores of all time in the CPL.
1) Brandon King- 132* runs off 72 balls
The first to top the list of the Top 5 players to score highest is BA King. Brandon King, is a cricketing graduate from the Kingston Cricket Club, and has been a vital domestic run-getter right from an early age and has proven his place in the middle-order stroke-player for the teams he has registered so far. His prolific performance during the Under-19 level made him represent Jamaica followed by West Indies in the 2014 U-19 World Cup. Despite scoring just 59 runs in the tournament, he still managed to make his first-class debut against Trinidad and Tobago due to the trust and faith he scripted amongst the selectors.
After some decent show, Brandon’s form started to get hampered and struggled to stay in the team. However, he grinds hard to finally get registered at the Caribbean Premier League 2017, where he made sure people turned their heads while he performed. His 132 runs off 72 balls vs tridents is one of the highest scores ever made in the history of CPL which proves, cricket is all about working hard and crushing with records.

2) AD Russell- 121* runs off 49 balls
This man needs no introduction. He has always been in limelight in whatever tournaments he represented. Some know him for his amazing performances while he played for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League, while some may know him for his outstanding show he displays when he plays for West Indies.
However, his CPL records too are drool-worthy. With some awesome performance throughout the many seasons of CPL, Russell is the second player to be a part of the top 5 scorers of CPL. His stat is as impressive as his batting style. With 121 runs in just 49 balls vs T&T riders, he truly deserves to be on the list.

3) Chris Gayle – 116 runs off 62 balls
The universe boss, as he is called, Chris Gayle is the utmost phenomenal player the cricketing world has been blessed with. His presence has its own charm on the pitch. He has led his home franchise, Jamaica Tallawahs, to title triumphs in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) prior to shifting his base to St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots – whom he took at the finals too in the fifth edition of the tournament. With 116 runs of 62 balls vs Patriots, Chris Gayle becomes the third in the Top 5 run-scorers.

4) Chris Gayle- 111* runs off 63 balls
It wouldn’t be a surprise if this guy comes out and breaks every record, even his own. The fourth cricketer to get listed in our Top 5 run-scorers is again mighty Chris Gayle. Of many features some of the mains include his ability to turns the ones and twos to boundaries, rotating the strike just at the right time, and eyes on the ball make his stand out. With 111 runs off 63 balls vs Zouks, Gayle is at number 4 of the CPL’s top 5 run-scorers.

5) DR Smith- 110* runs off 69 balls
There had been rumours revolving around the cricketing world that Dwayne Smith was recognized as a pure talent by none other than Sir Viv Richards. Well, the rumour may or may not be true, but Smith managed to stand by it. He has time and again proven that he is one of the best batsmen in the circuit currently available. With 110* off 69 balls, Smith is in our top 5 run scorers of CPL.
