The Women Premier League is one of the best platforms for the display of the athletic prowess and cricketing abilities of female cricketers around the world. The second edition of this marquee league commenced on February 23. As franchises in the IPL 2024 seeked to attract more female players and utilize their talents, we witnessed the rise of women cricket, a sport that is more exciting than ever!
At the end of January, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) held a press conference and disclosed the schedule of WPL 2024. A total of 5 teams (Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Giants, Royal Challengers Bangalore and UP Warriorz) are taking part in this league. Winner of the previous season, Mumbai Indians, faced Delhi Capitals on Friday in the opener at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Within a 22-day period, the competition will see the elimination round and the final. The team who will be at the top of the points table will get a direct entry to the finals. Whereas, their opponent will be decided through an eliminator match. The final match of WPL 2024 will be played at Arun Jaitley Stadium on March 17th.
