The 2019-20 La Liga marked its 86th season from 16th of August 2019. La Liga is now called La Liga “Santander” due to sponsorship reasons.
TEAMS
20 teams will be competing against each other in La Liga 2019-20, 17 from the the La Liga 2018-19 and 3 from the Segunda Division 2018-19.
As happens in the Premier League, the promotion and the relegation system is in place in La Liga as well. Three teams finishing at the bottom of the La Liga points table get relegated to the Segunda Division, the second tier of Spanish Football, while three teams from the Segunda division get promoted to La Liga.
