Desired level of communication not happening in Indian team, says Madan Lal

Madan Lal

Former Indian fast bowler and current member of Cricket Advisory Committee(CAC) Madan Lal on Tuesday said that the kind of communication which is needed at the senior level is currently missing in the Indian team. His remarks came in response to Rohit Sharma’s controversy where skipper Kohli said in a press conference that there is lack of confusion, clarity over Rohit Sharma’s case as why the former didn’t travel to Australia despite playing IPL final held in Dubai.

However, BCCI immediately stated that Sharma couldn’t travel to Australia as his father was unwell. However Madan Lal while talking to ANI spoke in favour of Kohli where he said ” Whatever Virat Kohli said in a press conference is correct, I back him for the same because clarity with the captain is must as the leader runs the team. Both Coach and Captain should be aware of what’s happening with both their players. Only Rohit or his franchise  Mumbai Indians can answer why he played for the franchise when he was just 70 per cent fit. I think that communication is the team should be on a good level. The kind of communication which is required is not happening, there should be clarity regarding what is happening”.

India has already lost the ODI series against Australia where Australian batsman have outclassed Indian bowlers in both matches where Smith scored back to back centuries at Sydney Cricket Ground against India in first two matches.  Indian Bowlers including the likes of Shami, Bumrah and Saini have been heavily criticized by the netizens for their dismal bowling performances in first two ODIs against Australia. Many experts criticized Indian bowlers for not sticking with their plans in first two ODIs. However, Madan Lal said that wicket to wicket bowling should be done in my point of view to succeed in Australian conditions and if the bowlers will not be able to take quick wickets early against established Australian batting lineup then the visitors are bound to struggle in that case.
