Shardul Thakur who played an important role in sealing victory for India against Australia by 13 runs in a 3 match ODI series which host has already won by 2-1. After winning the match Shardul said that he came up with the plan of bowling Australian batsman in straight lines which he successfully executed during the entire match. It was his first match of the recently concluded ODI series against Australia and he didn’t disappoint the team management and took 3 wickets including the most important wicket of star batsman Steven Smith.

“See, the important part was to stick to our lengths in this match. If you see the series, Australian batsman have played pull and cut shots quite a bit, I just tried to keep them off those seats and I was trying to make them play in the straight lines. This plan worked for me” said Shardul while replying to ANI query during the post match press conference.
He also talked about the important breakthrough of Steve Smith where he said ” See, I feel sometimes that we get lucky. When we try to execute the plans, we wanted to keep them on the backfoot and win this game, we were planning to bowl at the stumps when Smith was batting, I got lucky that I strangled down the legside, he is a top player, It was huge wicket for us. Winning this game to carry the momentum in the T20I series was important”
While it was first victory for India in the ongoing ODI Super League. Taking about the match Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bat first where Indian team lost their 5 wickets at 160 run mark but Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya made sure that India cross 300 run mark with their individual performances as they scored 92 and 66 runs respectively and helped India set the target of 302 runs at loss of 5 wickets in their 50 overs quota. In reply Australia team were bowled out on 289 runs in 49.3 overs.
