Sri Lanka squad for T20 World Cup 2024
Sri Lankan Cricket Board also approved the names of its 15 players, who will be seen playing in the upcoming T20 World Cup. Apart from 15 players, the Sri Lankan team has kept 4 players in the traveling reserve. Under the captaincy of Wanindu Hasaranga, the Sri Lankan team will try to win its second title. Charith Asalanka has been selected as the vice-captain in the Sri Lanka squad.
The Sri Lankan team selected the bowlers who shone in the IPL. Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis, Kamindu Mendis and Charith Asalanka will be seen in the batting department of the Sri Lankan team, while Angelo Mathews, Dasun Shanaka, Dhananjay de Silva and captain Wanindu Hasaranga himself will be in the role of all-rounder.

Kusal Mendis will be seen supporting Sadira Samarawickrama as the wicketkeeper. The bowling department of the Sri Lankan team is very strong. Mathisa Pathirana and Mahish Teekshana, who shone in the IPL, have been selected, while Dushmantha Chameera, Nuwan Thushara and Dilshan Madhushanka have also got a place in the Sri Lanka squad .
Wanindu Hasaranga had withdrawn his name from IPL 2024. He withdrew his name from the Sunrisers Hyderabad team due to injury but now he is all set to take charge of the Sri Lankan team. The Sri Lankan team has selected 4 more players as traveling reserves, which include the names of Asitha Fernando, Vijayakanth Wiyaskanth, Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Janith Liyanage.
The Sri Lankan team has expressed its confidence in many experienced players. When Angelo Mathews returned to the T20 format earlier this year, former white ball captain Dasun Shanaka, current ODI captain Kusal Mendis and Test captain Dhananjay de Silva were also included in the team.
