India won the finals by 7 runs on June 29 at the Kensington Oval, Barbados against formidable South Africa. This win in the final of the T20 World Cup 2024 makes India as the ultimate T20 World Cup champion. In the course of the tournament, India has not suffered any defeat in the games that were played.

Earlier, Shah had commended the team’s unwavering spirit throughout the tournament, where they remained undefeated until the final match. He remarked, “They (Team India) have faced and silenced their critics with stellar performances time and again. Their journey has been nothing short of inspirational, and today, they join the ranks of the greats, achieving something truly special that brings immense pride and joy to all Indians.”

India’s triumphant journey began with a convincing win against Ireland, followed by victories over arch-rivals Pakistan and co-hosts United States of America. Their group stage campaign culminated in another win against Canada in Florida.

The Super 8 stage saw India continuing the winning streak where they beat Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Australia to book their place in the semi-finals. Here, they defeated the defending champions – England, and then beat South Africa in an exciting and thrilling final match to go win the T20 World Cup 2024
