Oman Squad for T20 World Cup 2024
Oman has already announced their squad for the T20 World Cup. However, Oman has taken a big decision in view of the tournament and by making a change in the captaincy, they have given the responsibility to Aqib Ilyas.
Aqib replaced Zeeshan Maqsood as a captain. Maqsood had commanded Oman since the 2016 T20 World Cup but now he has been relieved of this responsibility.
Oman has not made any significant changes in its squad for the upcoming World Cup and has expressed confidence in the same players who were associated with the team till now. Most of the players from the squad that played in the recent ACC Premier Cup have been retained.
Shoaib Khan is the exception
Shoaib Khan is the only player who was not part of the team in the tournament held in April. At the same time, opening batsman Jatinder Singh and leg spinner Samay Srivastava could not get a place in the 15-member team, but they are in the reserves along with Sufiyan Mahmood and Jai Odedra.

Players to debut in T20 World Cup
The six players who made their debut in the T20 World Cup include specialist batsmen Kashyap Prajapati and Khalid Kail, wicketkeeper Pratik Athavale, spinner Shakeel Ahmed and all-rounders Shoaib Khan and Rafiullah. Apart from captain Ilyas and Maqsood, Mohammad Nadeem, Ayaan Khan, Rafiullah, Mehran Khan and Shoaib Khan have been selected as all-rounders.
Oman’s bowling lineup
The fast bowling attack will be led by Bilal Khan, Ahmed Fayyaz Butt and Kaleemullah. Shakeel Ahmed is a specialist spinner, who will be supported by Ilyas, Maqsood and Ayaan in the spin department.
Oman played its debut in the T20 World Cup 2016. At the same time, it co-hosted the tournament with UAE in 2021 and could not qualify for the group stage in the 2022 edition. They are part of Group B along with Australia, England, Namibia and Scotland in the upcoming edition. The team will start its campaign against Namibia in Barbados.
