However, he is making comeback in the Test cricket after 2 years has been ignored quite some time by time management as Shubhman Gill and Mayank Agarwal has been given preference ahead of Kl Rahul.
When he was asked about how did he felt when he was out from Test cricket from close to 2 years to which he replied that I was disappointed as my performance wasn’t there so I had nobody to blame for that.
“Getting dropped from Test cricket was disappointing. It did hurt but I had nobody else to blame but myself. Performances weren’t there; I just had to wait for my opportunity. The way it came to me I think it was meant to be for me. Just enjoyed my batting and getting a hundred at Lord’s makes it even more special,” said Rahul while speaking to Rohit Sharma in a video posted by BCCI’s official website.
“It’s very, very special. Not because it was a hundred at Lord’s, that adds to the excitement and joy. I have been away from Test cricket for a couple of years now. I have grown up wanting to be a Test cricketer and to play Test cricket.”
After securing a century against England in 2nd Test he has registered his name on Lords Honours board he was unbeaten on 1st day Knock and was expected to expand his innings on 2nd Day but unfortunately he wasn’t able to capitalize on that but he played his part superbly as another batsman including the likes of Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane couldn’t make it big when it was needed the most due to which India bundled out on 364 runs.
