IPL latest update: Wasim Jaffer bids goodbye to Punjab fans as he steps down from Batting coach post ahead of next season

Former India cricketer Wasim Jaffer who was associated with Punjab Kings side from last 2 edition has announced that he will no longer continue his post via a meme which is garnering lot of attention on social media.

Jaffer has impeccable record in domestic cricket where as batter he amassed more than 12,000 runs and also holds a record of becoming first player to play 150 Ranji trophy matches. The meme he choose to announce his decision was taken from 2016 popular Bollywood movie “Ae Dil Hain Mushkil” on a popular song “Acha Chalta hun Dua main Yaad Rakhna”. He extended his wishes for Anil Kumble and support staff for his future endeavours.

Meanwhile the Mohali based franchise had lot of brainstorming to do ahead of next IPL auction as they have retained two players only which include Mayank Agarwal for INR 12 crore and Arshdeep Singh for INR 4 crore and hefty amount is left in their kitty and It would be interesting to see how they will prepare their ideal combination in upcoming auction.

As per reports from different media outlets. franchise wanted to retain Kl Rahul as the next skipper of Punjab but the ace player decided to move on from Punjab Kings  has been purchased by Lucknow based franchise for whopping amount of INR 17 crore.

Many reckon that, Mayank Agarwal is likely to become the new leader of Punjab Kings or they might go for Shreyas Iyer or David Warner who are complete player and does possess amazing leadership ability.

IPL upcoming auction is all set to take place on 12th and 13th Feb 2021 in Bengaluru behind closed doors with the main event all set to start from March 27th 2021 with 74 matches to be played in next season with addition of two more teams in next edition.
