IPL 13: KXIP needs collective effort from batsman and bowlers, says Wasim Jaffer

Kings XI Punjab batting coach Wasim Jaffer said that the reason why we are lacking in terms of victories in the ongoing edition of Indian Premier League as there has been no collective effort from batsman and bowlers as a unit and due to which we have lost matches at the crunch moments. In a tournament like IPL, you need to be the best in order to beat other teams as the top players of the world plays in the cash-rich league.

Kings XI Punjab will be playing their sixth match today against Sun Risers Hyderabad in a must-win game and they need more victories under their belt to seal their place in the playoffs. If Punjab fails to turn their fate around this year it will be extremely difficult for them to qualify for the top 4 of the cash-rich league.

“I think the boys have done well. It’s not been the ideal start. The batting unit apart from one game has done really well. It’s just we need collective performance from batter and bowlers. I think the good game is around the corner and the momentum will shift our way,” Jaffer said these words in a video posted on the KXIP  official Twitter handle.

Jaffer said that the side needs couple of matches to go their way in order to have the required momentum.

“We need to play our best cricket no matter who’s in front of us and just think about winning. We just need couple of games to go our way. The momentum will shift and we just need to carry on from there,” said Jaffer.

KXIP management has also been criticized for not giving chance to Gayle in the playing XI in all the matches they have played till now in IPL 2020. It will be interesting to see whether they will give chance to Gayle in today’s clash against SRH or not in a must-win game for them.
