Kings X1 Punjab Fielding coach Jonty Rhodes said it’s high time that players like Mohammad Shami who is playing for India quite some time now should set a high standard in fielding for youngsters to follow in the upcoming edition of cash-rich league.
As we know that the mega event is all set to start from 19th September to 10th November 2020 in UAE across three venues which are Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Shah Jahan.
“From an energy perspective, I always look to the senior players to lead that because there are some talented young players like Mayank Agarwal, Karun Nair, Deepak Hooda, some great fielders. But It’s guys like Shami who for me are so important to this outfit because they are often looked up to and respected in every regard, especially in Indian cricketing circles” Rhodes said this on the official video posted on the Twitter handle of Kings X1 Punjab.
“If they are setting high standards, then young players, it is easier for them to follow. So it’s great to see Shami speed to the ball, great technique and just showing the younger guys that he still got something left in the tank, “ He added.
Rhodes had a long association with IPL as for many years he served as the fielding coach of Mumbai Indians. He will give his valuable inputs to KXIP coaching staff which have big names like Wasim Jaffer and Anil Kumble who is the Head Coach of the side. The team under the leadership of KL Rahul and experience players like Maxwell, Gayle and Shammi will be eyeing for the first IPL title.
It will be the first time in the history of IPL that this year final will be played on weekday which is Tuesday which has never happened in previous 12 editions.
