The Delhi Capitals were ordered to stop sharing “Rishabh Pant’s” jersey in the dugout after their IPL 2023 season opener by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
According to reports from various media sources, the BCCI Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) must grant permission for Delhi Capitals.
The BCCI is unhappy with the manner the players’ jerseys were exchanged in the dugout because doing so would imply that the players had experienced great tragedy or had retired, which wasn’t the case, and the Delhi Capitals’ gesture was “Over the Top.”
“It seemed a bit over the top. Such a gesture is reserved in case of ultimate tragedy or retirement. In this case, it was neither. Rishabh is well and truly on his way to recovery faster than one expected. So while it was done with a noble intention, it is learnt that BCCI has politely told the franchise to avoid such gesture in future,” the IPL source said.
