EARLY LIFE
Alexandre was born on 28 May 1991 in Lyon, France in a Guadeloupian family. His parents who once lived in eastern Caribbean country migrated to France to seek better living.
Alexandre begins playing Football when he was seven years old with the youth academy of Elan Sportif, he played for five years till he was 12. Gradually he made himself good enough to see himself approved in the youth ranks of Lyon.
It was at Lyon where he laid the foundation of his professional career.
PERSONAL LIFE
Alexandre likes to keep his personal life away from the limelight. He is not married but has a girlfriend whose name is still a secret.
CLUB CAREER
In 2003 he became a part of the youth academy of the club Lyon. He made his debut for the team on 5 May 2010 in a Ligue 1 home match against Auxerre.
He then signed a three year deal with Lyon, marking his first professional contract. He netted his first competitive goal for the team on 30 October 2010 in Ligue 1 against Sochaux.
In 2010 he made his European club debut, against the Portuguese club Benfica in a 4-3 lose. On December 7 he netted his first European club goal against Israeli club Hapoel Tel Aviv which eventually ended in a 2-2 draw.
Playing ahead in the future he helped the club to conquer 2011-12 Coupe de France and 2012 Trophee des Champions. Alexandre left Lyon after he netted his 100th goal for Lyon in a match against Toulouse on 29 October 2016 in a 2-1 victory.
After leaving Lyon he joined Arsenal on 5 July 2017, on an initial amount of 53 million euros the largest one ever received by Lyon.
He made his debut with Arsenal on 6th August 2017 against the Chelsea in the 2017 FA Community Shield in a 4-1 defeat via penalty shootout. Eventually, the club won the 2017 FA Community Shield title.
After former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger left the club under the new manager Unai Emery Alexandre found himself stuck with the bench. He made his first start under the new manager against Arsenal in a 3-2 away win over Cardiff City.
His form continued as the club won against Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Manchester United. On 3rd May he was voted by Arsenal supporters as the club’s player of the season.
INTERNATIONAL CAREER
For the national team, he made his debut from the Youth international debut on 3rd April 2007 as part of the Under-16 Football team. He played in all the national youth teams of France.
On 31 July 2010 Alexandre netted a crucial goal at the 84th minute which leads France to conquer their second UEFA European Under-19 Championship title. Moving ahead with the youth national team he helped France to qualify for the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
He made his senior international debut with the national team of France at the Estadio Centenario in Montevideo on 5th June 2013, against Uruguay.
His first international goal came in a friendly match against Denmark where France won by 2-0 margin.
CONTROVERSY
Alexandre risked controversy when he liked an Instagram post from famous Arsenal fan Troopz calling for manager Unai to be sacked and slamming the club’s caption Granit Xhaka after 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace.
