Nemanja Matic is a Siberian professional Footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for the Premier League club, Manchester United and the Siberian national team.
EARLY LIFE
Matic was born on 1st August 1988 in Sabac, Yugoslavia to father Dragon Matic and mother Biljana Matic, both are ex-athletes. Matic from a very young age was fond of playing Football. He started his Football career through the youth academy of Serbian Club, Vrelo in 1993.
Meanwhile, during his youth days, he learned and developed skills through the various youth academies before joining the senior side of Kolubara in 2005.
He then moved to the Slovakian Football club, Kosice where he assisted the club to conquer the 2008-09 Slovak Cup. He made 70 appearances for the club.
PERSONAL LIFE
Matic married his long-time girlfriend Aleksandra Pavic in 2010. The couple is blessed with two children a son and a daughter.
CLUB CAREER
In 2009 he moved to English Premier League Club Chelsea FC. He played his debut match against the Wolves on 21, November 2009. But just at the beginning of the new season, he was sent on loan to club Vitesse.
In 2013 Matic exchanged his contract with Brazilian defender David Luiz to join the Portuguese club SL Benfica. Playing for Benfica he helps the club to claim their 2013-14 Primeira Liga title.
Within one year Matic made his return into his former club Chelsea and agreed to sign a five-year deal. He debuted Chelsea on 19th January 2019 2014 against Manchester United. Playing for the team he helped to conquer the 2014-15 and 2016-17 Premier League titles.
In 2017 he moved to Manchester United agreeing to a five-year deal wit he club. His first goal for the club came on 5th March 2018 against the Crystal Palace. He made his League debut in a 4-0 win against the West ham United.
INTERNATIONAL CAREER
Matic has represented Serbia at the international level as a part of its U-21 Serbian team and the UEFA Euro U-21 Championship tournaments. His first international goal for Serbia came on 29 March 2019.
He has received 36 caps and has netted 2 goals to this date for his national team.
CONTROVERSY
The Manchester United midfielder make controversy when he didn’t wear a poppy on his shirt in memory of bombing in a NATO-air campaign that lasted 78 days in 1999.
