Alex Oxlade Chamberlain best known by the nickname OX is an English professional Footballer who plays as a midfielder for England national team and Premier League club, Liverpool.

EARLY LIFE

Alex was born on 15th August 1993 in Portsmouth, the United Kingdom to Mark Chamberlin and Wendy Oxlade. Since Alex was two years old he started kicking Football majorly due to his father who was a former England winger.

His father was known as the fastest English Player during 1970-80. Under his guidance, Alex got the proper start which he wanted to become a professional Footballer.

PERSONAL LIFE

Alex is in a relationship with singer Perrie Edwards of the girl group Little Mix. Since the couple has announced their relationship upon Instagram their relationship has grown stronger and stronger.

CLUB CAREER

At the age of seven, Alex joined Southampton Academy to start his career in Football. It took him nine years to made his first debut for the club, coming off the bench against Huddersfield Town in a 5-0 win Alex become the club’s second-youngest player to appear for the club after Theo Walcott.

Seeing his performance the club offered him his first professional contract just after he turned 17. He started his first league in a 2-0 loss against Rochdale, his first league goal came against Oldham Athletic in 2-1 victory on 23rd October 2010.

In his debut season, he became the fan favorite, as he was voted Man of the Match in a league match for the first time.  He finished the season with nine goals.

After the first season, Alex’s father insisted him to join the Gunners as soon as possible to continue his development.

On 8th August 2011, Alex joined Arsenal for 15 million euros. He played his first match for the Gunners against Manchester United as a substitute for Francis Coquelin. He made his UEFA Champions League debut against Olympiacos and Premier League debut against Manchester United in a 2-1 defeat.

Playing form the Gunners side Alex contributed his crucial gameplay in conquering three FA Cup and Fa Community Shield each.

On 31st August 2017, Alex signed a five-year contract with Arsenal’s Premier League rivals Liverpool for 35 million euros. He made his debut for the club on 9th October 2017 in a 5-0 loss against Manchester City.

He netted his first goal on 17th October 2017, against Maribor by 7-0 in Champions League and first league goal on 4th November 2017 in a 4-1 win against West Ham.

For Alex, the 2018-19 season wasn’t good enough as he on 25th April 2018 suffered a serious injury in his knee at the 15th minute of the Champions League semi-final, and thus was out from the majority of matches of the season.

On 26th April 2019 after 366 days he returned as a substitute in Liverpool’s 5-0 league win over Huddersfield. However, he was used as an unused substitute for the 2019 UEFA Champions League final against Tottenham Hotspur.

INTERNATIONAL CAREER

Alex started playing for his national team after he was called for the England Under-18 squad to play against Poland on 16th November 2010 at Adams Park.

Gradually over the years, Alex played as part of the Under-19 and then Under-21 England team before being promoted in the senior side of the national squad.

On 11th June he made his major international tournament debut when he started in England’s opening match of the Euro 2012 tournament against France.

He netted his first senior international goal in a 5-0 victory over San Marino on 12th October 2012. On 16th May 2018 due to an injury, he left out of Gareth Southgate’s 23-man England national team squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

CONTROVERSY

Breaking the ice between the controversial relationship between Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, Alex revealed the end of bitterness through his Instagram story through an edited pic featuring Sala, Sadio and Liverpool boss Klopp.
