Former Indian cricketer, Suresh Raina took everyone by surprise after pulling out of IPL 2020 on Friday. Various speculations were made on the possible reasons for his shocking departure from UAE.

Soon it was revealed that Raina’s uncle had died in a House Attack in Pathankot village. Throwing the light on the same, Raina took to Twitter to share the news of the violent attack and demanded a thorough probe into the matter.

What happened to my family is (sic) Punjab was beyond horrible. My uncle was slaughtered to death, my bua & both my cousins had severe (sic) injuries. Unfortunately my cousin also passed away last night after battling for life for days. My bua (aunt) is still very very critical & is on life support,” he tweeted

Raina’s relatives were attacked on 20th August in Thariyal village in Punjab”s Pathankot district. His uncle died on the spot while his aunt is still battling for life.

Till date we don”t know what exactly had happened that night & who did this. I request @PunjabPoliceInd to look into this matter. We at least deserve to know who did this heinous act to them. Those criminals should not be spared to commit more crimes. @capt_amarinder @CMOPb,” he added, tagging Punjab Captain Amarinder Singh.

Suresh Raina called time on his international career on 15th August 2020 minutes after the retirement of MS Dhoni. His sudden departure led to widespread speculations amongst the fans.

CSK owner, N Srinivasan later revealed that Raina had a problem with the hotel room that he was allotted. He later made a U-turn and said that the team will always stand by the CSK’s prolific run-scorer.
Raina has played 193 matches for CSK in IPL, scoring 5368 runs at an average of 33.3.
