Virat Kohli can be removed as skipper of RCB during second leg of IPL 2021: Reports

It seems that Kohli is having a tough time with both willow and captaincy at the moment as the legendary batsman is clearly struggling with his form and also his decision of opening at the top along with Devdutt Padikkal has not worked on most occasions for Bangalore based franchises in the ongoing season of IPL 2021.

RCB in the ongoing season of IPL is in the top 4 positions but they need to win quickly as they still need victories under the armory to make it into the playoffs stage of IPL 2021. As this is the last season of Kohli as skipper of RCB as he will be stepping down from captaincy after this season but the new reports have already started emerging which clearly indicates that the ace player captaincy might be taken in the midway of IPL 2021 by RCB management.

“Look at the way he was playing against Kolkata Knight Riders. Just clueless! It seems he is struggling big time right now. There are chances that he could be removed mid-way through the season. It has happened earlier also with other teams — like with Dinesh Karthik in KKR and David Warner in Sunrisers Hyderabad, among others. They were either removed or they stepped down mid-way. So it can happen in RCB as well… I have this feeling after watching yesterday’s match. One more bad game and you can see a change in RCB captaincy right away,” a former cricketer was quoted as saying in an IANS report on the condition of anonymity.

If that happens the management will look at De Villiers to take up the captaincy role and with the wealth of experience he has under his belt, it will be interesting to see that how he approaches the game as a skipper. Taking about next season where we would see two more teams will be added which means mega auctions will take place it might not be surprising as the management would go for some player that may be Indian or overseas who has experience of leading the side before and can be given captaincy role and someone who understand the game better and take RCB to new heights with their leadership role.
