Let BCCI Decide whether they want players to travel Pakistan for Asia Cup or not: Anurag Thakur

During the past several days, there has been nonstop chatter on the conflict between India and Pakistan regarding the former participation in the Asia Cup.

As of yet, it is unclear whether India will travel to Pakistan to compete in the 2023 Asia Cup. The previous board denied this, claiming that the government would forbid Indian athletes from competing in the prestigious competition for security grounds.

The identical topic regarding India’s dispute over participation in the Asia Cup was raised in the most recent press conference given by Union Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur.

Thakur responded, “Let BCCI take call on this, whether they want players to travel to Pakistan, then it will all move down to Sports Ministry and Home Ministry to determine whether Men in Blue will travel or not.

There has been constant meeting held by Asia Cup Apex Council, to take a call whether India will participate in upcoming Asia Cup or not.

Still no clarity has been issued and based on rumours on different media outlets, India will not travel to Pakistan for Asia Cup participation and they will play all matches in UAE and if they successfully qualify for the final then the final will be held in UAE.

Pakistan will host rest of the matches in UAE Conditions, for other teams barring India.

Also current PCB President Najam Sethi said while talking to distinct media outlets, that If India will not travel to Pakistan for Asia Cup then we will also not travel to India for Men’s ODI World Cup which is scheduled later this year.

BCCI and PCB cricketing relationship has been deteriorated from last few years due to which we have only see them playing in ICC and ACC events.

It will be interesting to see what will be India’s instance whether they will be heading for Asia Cup or not all only time will tell.
