IPL 2021: Brett Lee expresses his disbelief after David Warner is dropped from SRH’s playing XI

David Warner has been an instrumental player as a leader for the Hyderabad-based franchise in the last few years as under his leadership he guided the franchise to lift the title in 2016.

The man who took the franchise to a new height in the last 2-3 years has been sacked from the captaincy by SRH management for orange army dismal performance in the ongoing season of IPL 2021.

The sad part which irked all Hyderabad fans was the noninclusion of Warner in the playing X1 in a recently concluded match against Rajasthan Royals which they lost eventually by 55 runs.

Former Australian cricketer and current IPL dugout expert Brett Lee expresses his disbelief after Warner was left out from the playing XI where he said that despite his team hasn’t done well in the ongoing season of cash-rich league but still southpaw has managed to score close to 200 runs.

“I’m actually shocked that David Warner was not included in the XI. I know he hasn’t been playing his best form of cricket in terms of his strike rate this season but he’s always been there and there about with the Orange Cap party,” said Brett Lee on a chat with Star Sports.

However, Lee further opined on the fact that Warner’s experience will be handy for the franchise in the upcoming games of IPL 2021.

“He has scored runs throughout the IPL. Tell you what, he’s not happy. He would not be happy but all he can do now is be a good team player and support his team and hopefully for the Sunrisers, they can find some momentum,” concluded Brett Lee.

Also, his exclusion in the playing X1 in the SRH squad is not justified based on the fact that he has scored 5447 runs and has scored those runs at an average of 40. He is also the only IPL batsman in IPL history to have scored 50 fifties in the IPL.
