Happy To Bat Wherever The Team Wants: Sanju Samson

Sanju Samson

Sanju Samson has said that he doesn’t have a preferred slot in the batting order and he is prepared to bat wherever the team management asks him to bat.

It is believed that Sanju’s batting style is more suited to the top order. The chief selector MSK Prasad had also said while announcing the squad for the India vs Bangladesh T20I series that Sanju would be batting in the top order.

With Virat Kohli being rested, there is a vacancy at no. 3 in the Indian line-up and it is believed, after Prasad’s statement, that Sanju might be given that slot.

“I am happy to do whatever role the team gives me whether it’s in the top-order or the middle-order.”, Sanju was quoted saying by Cricbuzz.

“The biggest positive change this season has been that I tried to play to my strength. I try to dominate and play fearless cricket all the time.” Sanju added.

Even for his IPL Rajasthan Royals, Sanju bats at no. 3 most of the time. The reason why the teams use Sanju at no. 3 is because he is more of a timer of the ball rather than a power player

If Sanju does well against Bangladesh, he might push his case for selection in the Indian squad for the WT20 that is going to be held in Australia next year.

According to Sanju, it has always been his dream to represent India in a World Cup. He is not sure if it will indeed happen next year, but he definitely wants to be a part of the Indian world cup team at some point of time in his career.

Sanju also insisted that he has matured as a batsman now. He has identified his areas of strength and has put the fear of failure out of his system.

Sanju Samson has so far played just one T20I for India in which he scored 19 runs off 24 balls.
