Du Plessis expresses interest to bring back AB de Villiers in T20

South Africa captain Faf du Plessis also showed his interest to bring back AB de Villiers in the T20Is before the World Cup after newly appointed coach Mark Boucher insisted that he will talk with the former South African skipper regarding the same.

Things are finally starting to fall back into place for South Africa Cricket after the appointment of former South African players in the board. Former South Africa captain Graeme Smith has been appointed as the director of cricket while Mark Boucher has been appointed as the head coach until 2023 World Cup.

Meanwhile, Boucher has already given a ray of hope to South Africa after he expressed his interest in a press conference that he wants to see De Villiers in the T20 World Cup squad.

Skipper Faf du Plessis has also joined in and revealed that conversations have been taking place and they will continue to take place before the next T20 International series starts

“Those conversations have been happening two or three months ago. Obviously Test cricket is the most important thing right now but T20 cricket is a different beast.

It’s not a lot of time away from home. Obviously with a full campaign you have to spend a lot of time on the road. The T20 World Cup is not too far away and there isn’t a long list of T20 Internationals over the season.”

“Those conversations have taken place and they will take place before the next T20 International series starts,” he added.

Earlier after being appointed as the head coach. Boucher insisted he wants AB de Villiers to play in the upcoming T20 World Cup and said he will talk to him regarding this matter.

“When you go to a World Cup, you want your best players playing for you. If I feel he is one of your best players, why wouldn’t I want to have a conversation with him? I’ve only just got into the job, I might have conversations with quite a few players and see where they are,” he said.
