With the win, Delhi Capitals set up second qualifier against Chennai Super Kings at Visakhapatnam on Friday. 

Rishabh Pant once again make the selectors ponder over their decision to exclude him in the squad as the left-handed batsman played another game changing innings of 49 runs off 21 balls, helping DC win the match against SRH by 2 wickets.

In pursuit of 162 run total, young Prithvi Shaw made sure Delhi rode to a flying start. Shaw smashed Khaleel Ahmed to 3 consecutive boundaries followed by 2 fours and one six to Bhuvneshwar Kumar as DC raced to 55 runs in just 6 over. 

However, in-form Shikhar Dhawan played an uncharacteristic 16-ball 17 run innings on Wednesday. Shikhar eventually got stumped off Deepak Hooda in the eighth over. Skipper Shreyas Iyer too couldn’t help too much to the scoreboard who also fell cheaply on 8 off 10 deliveries. 

However, Prithvi Shaw kept Delhi in the run-chase, amassing boundaries from the other end.

Enjoyed an amazing season for SRH, Khaleel Ahmed came to SRH’s rescue, picking the crucial wicket of Shaw in the eleventh over as his innings came to an end on 58 off 38 balls and in the process Khaleel brought his team back in the contest. 

However, once again it was Rishabh Pant who held the command and changed the game on its head in just two overs. 

While wickets kept falling at one end, Pant was collecting boundaries and taking singles as well. And just when it looked the game was going away from Delhi, Pant smashed Thampi for 20 runs in four deliveries in the 18th over to bring down the equation to 12 runs off 12 deliveries in the end.

And just when everyone though the game is now in the hands of Delhi Capitals, Pant skied the ball in the air in the 19th over only to get caught at mid- off, ending his innings on 49 off 21 deliveries. 

Though fortunately for DC, Khaleel Ahmed tried his best but couldn’t win his team the match as DC won the game in the end with one ball left to play. 

Earlier, Sunrisers Hyderabad posted 162 for 8 in 20 overs, thanks to decent cameo from top order to middle order. 

Martin Guptill gave SRH a flying start before getting out in the seventh over on 36 off 19 balls, while skipper Kane Williamson and Manish Pandey chipped in 28 and 30 respectively. 

A Rabada less Delhi Capitals once against bowled brilliantly however went heavy in the death overs, as SRH notched 162 in the end, thanks to late flourish by Vijay Shankar and Mohammad Nabi.
