Chelsea defeat Crystal Palace 3-2 as Christian Pulisic shines

Chelsea registered its second consecutive Premier League victory as it defeated Crystal Palace by 3-2 in a high-scoring game on Tuesday. Frank Lampard’s men made sure of strengthening their position in the top four of the Premier League with an emphatic victory that saw the forward duo Christian Pulisic and Olivier Giroud scoring one goal each for the side.

The Blues made sure of taking the advantage over the Eagles in the early stages of the game by taking an unassessable lead of 2-0. Palace’s defender Gary Cahill sustained an injury and made to sit out as Olivier Giroud netted a superb goal with ease, opening the account for his side. It was followed by Christian Pulisic’s rising shot as he doubled the lead for the Blues.

In return, Wilfried Zaha netted a brilliant goal from an unlikely distance, also leaving Chelsea’s goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga clueless.

Chelsea’s third goal came when Giroud missed out on a with seizing an opportunity, as he paved way for Tammy Abraham and he combined well with Loftus-Cheek in restoring Chelsea’s two-goal lead.

This time Palace soon coped up in the match as they netted yet another goal but this time by Christian Benteke as he scored his first goal at the Selhurst Park since April 2018.

By the end of the second half, the finals scores were 3-2 as Chelsea thrashed the Palace and displace Leicester City into the third place in the latest Premier League standings with 60 points and 18 wins under their belt. While Crystal Palace remains at 14th place in the team standings with 42 points and 11 wins.

Frank Lampard’s men will now face Sheffield United this weekend on Saturday at the Bramall Lane in their next Premier League fixture and the Eagles face Aston Villa on Sunday.
