Watch: Virat Kohli sharing precious time with Yashasvi Jaiswal ahead of 2023 WTC Final

UP Born opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal has been a major revelation in this year’s IPL edition. The left-handed batter experienced his most prolific season ever and the BCCI rewarded his efforts with a selection in the Indian team as a stand by opener for the upcoming WTC Final at Oval.

The 21-year-old replaced CSK opener Ruturaj Gaikwad in the stand by players list. Gaikwad also had a terrific outing in IPL 2023. However, due to his marriage taking place 3 days before the WTC final, Yashasvi Jaiswal was announced as his replacement only a few days ago.

As we all know, team India are appearing in the WTC final for the 2nd time in a row. In the previous final, Virat Kohli’s men crashed out in front of New Zealand by 8 wickets at the Rose Bowl. This year the task in hand is even more imperative as India will face a tougher opponent in the form of 5-time 50 over World champions Australia.

Under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy and Rahul Dravid’s coaching, a decade long drought of ICC trophies is expected to come to an end. But 6 days before the one-off test begins, pictures and videos of team India’s preparation are going viral.

New entrant Yashasvi Jaiswal can also be seen Bat during the net sessions. In a recent video posted by ICC, he can be seen playing solid shots against pacers as well as spinners. He was also seen getting a few tips from fellow RR team mate Ravichandran Ashwin before Jaiswal caught up with Virat Kohli.

In another viral video clip, Virat Kohli can be seen teaching a few elements of batting to Yashasvi Jaiswal. The conversation between them is unheard but it is definitely something related to footwork.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and his numbers in IPL 2023

As it was mentioned earlier, Yashasvi Jaiswal experienced his most productive IPL season ever. Since making his debut in 2020, Jaiswal never batted like the way he did this season. In 14 matches, he scored 625 runs with a fearsome strike rate of 163.1, alongside 5 half-centuries and a Full-century against Kolkata Knight Riders where he smacked 124 runs.

In case you didn’t know, Jaiswal holds the record of scoring the fastest fifty in IPL history. It took him 13 balls.
