Universe Boss Chris Gayle Joins St Lucia ahead of the CPL 2020

Universe boss and the most dominating batsman Chris Gayle who is known for his swashbuckling innings that he has played in the shortest format of the game especially in the domestic t20 leagues all over the world.

Chris Gayle through his dominating sixes has given nightmares to bowlers all around the world. As he recently joined St Lucia Zouks as their marquee player for the 2020 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) after Jamaica Tallawahs chose not to retain him.

Gayle has played for Tallwahs and St Kitts & Nevis Patriots in the past. He has won the CPL title twice with the Tallawahs and played in the final with Patriots in 2017.

Gayle is the leading run-scorer of all time when it comes to Caribbean Premier League(CPL)and has amassed 2,344 runs in the tournament.

Darren Sammy Captain of St Lucia is delighted with Gayle joining his team as he went on to say that “This is great news for St Lucia Zouks and for me as a captain to have the universe boss on my side. Chris is one of the most successful T20 batsmen in the world with his experience youngsters can learn a lot from him.

I Welcome him in the Zouks Franchise. Chris will be in St Lucia and the fans will be happy and the fact that Jamaica had released him. I have motivated Chris Gayle who will be eager to prove a point that he is one of the leading T20 batsmen in the world. I can’t wait for CPL 2020 to begin and hopefully, coronavirus will be under control by that time so that we can have an exciting tournament.” He further added that.

However mutual thoughts were shared by Andy Flower as he said “It’s brilliant news that we have been able to get Chris Gayle this year in CPL 2020. I have a long association with Chris right from his debut test match in Trinidad in 2000. I would love to work with him and Darren in this special year.”

The CPL is scheduled to take place from August 19 to September 26 but the last moment change is expected considering the impact of COVID 19.
