Rajasthan Royals find themselves in a very precarious situation currently as their hopes of qualifying for the playoffs of IPL 2023 are not in their hands. They are currently sixth on the points table with 12 points and just 6 wins from 13 matches.
In order to qualify, they need to win their last match and pray for other results to go in their favor as well. Many big players from whom the team management had big hopes have failed and this is the reason they find themselves in deep waters.

- Riyan Parag (All-rounder)
The biggest disappointment for RR this season has been Riyan Parag. Parag was in red-hot form before the IPL began but has failed consistently in all the matches he played in IPL 2023. He was given the role of a finisher but failed to finish even a single match for his team. He has managed to score only 58 runs in IPL 2023.
- Devdutt Padikkal (Batter)
Padikkal has played as an impact player in most of the matches for RR this season as a batter. He has not been up to his best and has failed in many opportunities given to him this season at the number 4 position in the batting lineup. Padikkal has scored 210 runs in 10 matches this season.
- Jason Holder (All-rounder)
Being an overseas all-rounder, Holder has really underperformed for his team in the 2023 season of IPL. He was one of the starters in RR’s playing 11 in the first few matches but was dropped later on due to lack of performance. He has taken only 4 wickets in 8 matches and has failed to finish games as well.
- Murugan Ashwin (Bowler)
Murugan Ashwin has played 2 matches this season and has not taken any wickets. He has been a disappointment in the bowling department for RR as his performance has forced the team management to play an overseas spinner in the form of Adam Zampa along with Ashwin and Chahal on spinning tracks.
- Jos Buttler (Batter)
Not a disappointment, but a player of the stature of Jos Buttler has not lived up to the expectations in IPL 2023. He has scored 392 runs till now in 13 matches but RR expected more from him being such an experienced player. Yashasvi Jaiswal’s performance has helped in hiding Buttler’s inconsistency this season.
