Sri Lanka Cricket has officially announced the second season of Lanka Premier League to start from July 30th to 22nd August 2021.

The inaugural season of LPL was a grand success it is due to the inclusion of world-class players like Andre Russell, Kyle Abbott, Shoaib Malik, and Dale Steyn.

The first edition was also a huge success in terms of viewership is concerned as the league garnered 135 million viewership from all over the world. The first edition of LPL was conducted behind closed doors keeping the COVID-19 pandemic in mind at one stadium in MRICS, Hambantota.

According to the latest developments, they are still planning to organize the marquee event at one stadium. The second edition of LPL will give good chance to both top and young players to secure the berth of the Upcoming T20 World Cup in mind which is all set to be scheduled in India this year.

The first edition was won by Jaffna Stallions as they held their nerve to beat Galle Gladiators by 53 runs in the final. Thisara Perrera who was leading the side in first edition is all set to lead in the second edition too. With no pressure of performing well to stay in the team, the 32-year-old will be even more dangerous with his all-around abilities.

Sri Lanka national team is all set to tour England for a limited-over series starting from June 23rd 2021. There is a lot of talk about national players visiting England without signing their new contracts which lack transparency based on the sentiment of national cricketers.
