Zeeshan Maqsood, a cricket player for the Oman national cricket team and its captain, was born in Pakistan on October 24, of the year 1987. Zeeshan Maqsood has participated in national team competitions since 2012 and represents Oman at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cups in 2016 and 2021. The International Cricket Council (ICC) named Maqsood the Men’s Associate Cricketer of the Year in the month of January of the year 2022.

Personal Life

In the Pakistani province of Punjab, Maqsood was born. In his early twenties, Zeeshan Maqsood relocated to Oman. Manzoor and Saleem Elahi helped him develop as a cricket player. Before the partition, his forefathers were in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, India.

International career

At the 2012 ACC Trophy Elite, Zeeshan made his Oman debut against Bhutan, scoring 199 runs. He participated in the Division Four match of the 2014 ICC World Cricket League. Zeeshan Maqsood played his maiden Twenty 20 International (T20I) match for Oman against Afghanistan on July 25 in the year 2015 as part of the 2015 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier competition. With a total of 350 runs during the competition, Zeeshan Maqsood was the top run scorer in Division Five of the 2016 ICC World Cricket League. In a three-match series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the month of October of the year 2016, Zeeshan Maqsood made his List A debut for Oman.

Zeeshan Maqsood was included in Oman’s squad for the 2018 ICC World Cricket League Division Two competition in the month of January of the year 2018.

Zeeshan was chosen to lead Oman’s team in the 2018 Asia Cup Qualifier match in August 2018. Zeeshan Maqsood was chosen in the month of October of the year 2018 to lead Oman’s team in the Division Three match of the 2018 ICC World Cricket League. Zeeshan Maqsood was chosen to lead Oman’s squad in the 2018 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup in December.

Zeeshan Maqsood was chosen in the month of March of the year 2019 to lead Oman’s squad in the 2019 ICC World Cricket League Division Two competition in Namibia. Oman earned One Day International (ODI) status by placing among the top four teams in the competition. On April 27, of the year 2019, in the championship match against Namibia, Maqsood made his One Day International (ODI) debut for Oman.

Zeeshan Maqsood was chosen to lead Oman’s team in the 2019 ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier match in the month of September of the year 2019. Zeeshan Maqsood made his first One Day International (ODI) century on February 11, of the year 2020, against the United States (US), with 109 runs.

Zeeshan Maqsood was selected to lead Oman’s team at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in the month of September of the year 2021.
