The Final for the ISL Season 2022–23 will be played at Fatorda Stadium, Goa, on March 18, 7:30 p.m. IST.
ATK Mohun Bagan and Bengaluru FC both struggled to make it into the qualifiers, but now they have defeated the league table winners and runners-up to reach the finals. They have had the same journey throughout the season, where they struggled in the starting phase of the league but then won the eliminator as well as the semi-final. They built their teams block by block, and by working on their weaknesses, both teams became almost invincible till the end of the league stage.
The teams met twice in the league stage, with each team winning once, but there have been seven head-to-head matches, with ATK Mohun Bagan winning five and Bengaluru FC winning just one. ATK Mohun Bagan also has the experience to play in the finals, as they have reached the finals twice in the last 3 seasons. But with Sunil Chettri on their side, Bengaluru FC gets all the experience needed to win any competition.
Bengaluru FC is in great form, winning every match in 2023 to come this far, but ATK Mohun Bagan was seen struggling in the semifinals to score a goal, and both legs ended with clean sheets. Both teams have their own strengths, which make them unique in their own way. For example, ATK’s strength is its defense, which has the most clean sheets this season, while Bengaluru has a strong attack. They have great goal scoring ability, and their forwards and midfielders can trouble any defense line with their formation and one-touch passes. ATK’s forward players can also do wonders with their counterattacks, as they are able to move the ball very quickly along the pitch.
So, it will be an incredible contest to watch where the in-form attackers of Bengaluru FC will meet the strongest defense in the league.
