Hyderabad FC and Albert Roca part ways to join FC Barcelona as fitness coach

Indian Super League (ISL) club Hyderabad FC and Albert Roca have decided to officially part ways after the Spaniard got an offer from FC Barcelona.

Roca had signed a two-year contract with Hyderabad FC in January 2020 and had not managed even a  single game for the club in ISL. He was supposed to take charge in the upcoming season. Change of management at Barcelona saw Dutchman Ronald Koeman come in as head coach and he wanted Albert Roca in his staff. Koeman was himself a player at Barcelona club when Roca was a support staff member. In their statement, Hyderabad FC said Roca had requested to let him join Barcelona’s first-team staff and the club gave the nod.

Albert Roca had previously coached Bengaluru FC and was very successful. He was roped in as head coach of Hyderabad FC to change their fortune after being very miserable in 2019 session. In all fairness, the Barcelona offer was too tempting to decline and Hyderabad also did a favour by letting him go.

Albert Roca said he was thankful to Hyderabad FC for giving him a chance and he would be following their transition phase as well.

Roca signed off by saying “Trust me, the club is in great hands and I will be following the club’s progress this season and in future as well,” Roca signed off.
