Modou Sougou scores a brace to help 10-man Mumbai City FC register a 2-1 win over Hyderabad FC in a Indian Super League 2019-20 tie at the Mumbai Football Arena. Mumbai City FC now stand on the fourth position of the table. They have surpassed Jamshedpur FC to claim the fourth position on the table.

Hyderabad’s only goal came from Bobo but that was not enough to save them form the seventh defeat of their inaugural season.

Mumbai are not at level with reigning champions Bengaluru FC who stand on the third position with 16 points. This is Mumbai’s fourth win of the season. Meanwhile, Hyderabad remain on the bottom of the table with just 5 points in 10 matches. Hyderabad has lost 7 matches and played just 2 draws so far.

The first goal came in the sixth minute as Sougou scored from inside the box after a beautiful pass from Deigo Carlos. Carlos got behind the Hyderabad defence and pulled it back for Sougou who placed the ball beyond the reach of Kamaljit to make it 1-0.

Mumbai’s slim lead was put in danger after Sarthak Golui picked his second yellow card of the game which reduced his team to just 10 men. Sarthak Golui challenged Marcelinho near the box and was no where near the ball. The incident happened in the 67th minute of the game.

Minutes after Sarthak’s red card, Deigo Carlos again found Sougou in the box in a brilliant position and the latter converted his second chance and gave Mumbai a two-goal cushion. Bobo, for Hyderabad, did manage to score a consolation goal in the 81st minute of the game. Rai’s delivery perfectly fell for Bobo who made no mistake in converting the chance.

Hyderabad did manage to sneak out few more chances with Robin Singh leading at the front, but it was to no avail as Mumbai’s defense remain rock solid in the dying minutes of the game. Mumbai registered their third consecutive win of the season.
