Ahead of the thriller 2nd leg against Mumbai City FC the Blues look prepared for the final of ISL 2022-23. Even though their opponents for the final is not decided yet the Bengaluru team looks confident to claim the ISL title. ATK & Hyderabad FC will meet today to play it out for the 2nd spot in the final.
Bengaluru FC has one of the strongest squad on paper in the ISL and they were expected to dominate the league . After winning the Durand Cup 2022 it was disappointing for the fans to see their team struggling in the initial matches of the league. They registered just 3 victories in their starting 8 games and stumbled down to the 9th position in the league table. But the comeback is always stronger then the setback and that’s what Simon Grayson’s men portrayed.They won all the league games in 2023 and with a straight 8 game winning streak they were able to claim the 4th spot in the league table. They also won the eliminator against Kerala Blasters to reach the semifinal for which the credit goes to Sunil Chettri’ presence of mind to score that controversial freekick goal. They Booked their spot in the final by defeating the shield winners and also the main team in contention to win the title.
The Blues are on a 11 games unbeaten streak , being consistent with their team and formation they have been able to improve their teamplay. They are brimming with confidence and momentum which made them get past of every opponent team they came across. Having Sunil Chettri back in form elevates the team’s confidence and his commitment towards the sport can be seen by the impact he left on last 2-3 games. The squad is well balanced with powerful defenders and elegant strikers. The attacking combo Roy Krishna and Sivasakhti Narayan have been able to convert half chances into goals by their cheeky finishes and Javier Hernandez has been the backbone of Bengaluru’s attack with most goals and assists for the team.
So, From getting bogged down in 1st half of the ISL to make a remarkable comeback in the 2nd half their journey has been a complete fairy tail . Do they have enough power in their arsenal to lift the ISL TROPHY… Only time will tell.
