Is Esports growing at a rapid pace in Pakistan?

In India we have cricket as religion and the popularity of the game is certainly at the highest level but at the same time leagues like ISL, PBL, PKL are contributing in a big way to promote sports like Football, Badminton and Kabaddi respectively in the country.  India is certainly one of the biggest market when it comes to Esports and in next five years it will reach to another pedestal.

Here in this article we will talk about our neighbours or in other words “arch-rivals” Pakistan about the impact of Esports in their country?

Esports industry in Pakistan is growing at a rapid pace and they created a new record by organizing their largest ever tournament conducted by middle eastern esports gamers, Galaxy Racers.

The prize pool of that event was close to 20 million and the highest amount was bagged by team of five players who won whopping amount of Rs 5 million for conquering the PUBG Championship.

Based on the statement given by Mr Fakhar Alam, Head of Galaxy Racers Pakistan Division announced that he is aiming for higher and bigger cash pools in the upcoming years ranging from Rs 20 million to 50 million and from there it will reach close to 100 million.

However there is a big misconception that the revenue in Esports does come from organizing tournaments only as  there are other professions that stems out from platform and this is the only the start for Pakistan as the industry is rapidly growing.

E-Sport in Pakistan further started to grow as the PUBG mobile player excel in different competitions making it the highest game in the country and the local tournaments of PUBG are worth more than other game tournaments in the country.

There was a time when games like DOTA 2 and Counter Strike Global Offensive(CSGO) were the top two competitive games in Pakistan but since the launch of Valorant last year many gamers have switched to FPS (First Person Shooter) game and this new game has already surpassed the number of tournaments organized in the country in terms of Prize Pools.
