IPL 2023 : Sanju Samson draws comparison with MS Dhoni after he tried to let Yashasvi Jaiswal score a Century against KKR!

On match number 57 of the Indian Premier League 2023 between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals, fans inside the stadium experienced a memorable evening. RR needed to win to break a terrible streak of losses in order improve their prospects of advancing beyond the league round. They not just won the game, but they also easily defeated their rivals, in large part due to the teenage opener Yashasvi Jaiswal’s scorching 98 not out off 47 balls.

The left-handed batter’s approach was extremely clear right from the very beginning. Rajasthan were actually chasing an easy total of 150 in a batting friendly Eden Gardens and Jaiswal showed his intent right from the first ball. He smacked the first 2 balls for sixes off Nitish Rana before eventually conceding 26 runs in the first over.

After enduring damage early on in the 1st Innings, KKR’s situation further deteriorated due to Jaiswal’s ruthlessness. Although in the 2nd over, Jos Buttler got run-out while trying to save Jaiswal’s wicket and the lefty actually paid off Buttler by scoring the Fastest half-century in the history of Indian Premier League.

It took him just 13 balls to get to his 50 and eventually led his team towards victory with an emphatic contribution of 98 off 47 not out.

But that was not it, there was another incident which took place last night during RR and KKR’s encounter at Eden Gardens. It occurred when Jaiswal was just a 6 away from reaching Triple digits but Rajasthan needed just 3 runs to win by the 13th over.

Skipper Sanju Samson had reached 48 off 28 at that point, and Suyash Sharma tried to bowl the last delivery of 12th over wide off the leg stump towards the leg side. But Samson extended his front leg almost fully to intercept the ball before appearing to implore Samson to simply smash a six to end the game.

This gesture was heavily appreciated by fans inside the stadium and amassed positive reactions on social media. Fans on Twitter even compared Samson with MS Dhoni when he did the same to Virat Kohli during the 2014 T20 World cup.
