Chennai Super Kings levelled with Mumbai and became the most successful team of the Indian Premier League. The Chennai Super Kings lifted their 5th trophy in this season under MS Dhoni’s captaincy. The Whistle Podu army secured a crunching win over the defending Champions Gujarat Titans and won the trophy fifth time.
The audience witnessed one of the most entertaining finals on 29th of May between the two IPL giants. Chennai let Gujarat bat first after the toss fell in their favour. Gujarat while batting first posted enormous 214 runs as their middle order excelled. However, Chennai Super Kings had a good start as their openers amassed quick runs. The game went into fluctuation as Gujarat made a comeback. However, Rayudu and Jadeja brilliantly excelled and got Chennai to win the final.
Chennai started their journey in a rather slow manner as it faced the defeat from Gujarat Titans in the Inaugural match of this season. However, as the league progressed, Chennai made a solid comeback and got into the final.
Chennai has participated in a total of 14 matches this season of the league. Out of 14 matches, it has won 8 major matches whereas it has faced defeat in 5 matches. Chennai has outperformed teams like Mumbai, Gujarat, Lucknow and RCB this season.
After starting their journey on 31st of March with a loss from Gujarat, Chennai set the tone of winning in the forthcoming matches. Although in a head-to-head fight against Gujarat, Gujarat outperformed Chennai 3 times. However, Chennai brilliantly made a comeback and thrashed Pandya-led Gujarat in the first eliminator as well as in the final.
The season went really well for the men in yellow. Majority of fans from around the world were praying for Chennai’s hope as it was supposedly the last season of MS Dhoni. However, Dhoni gave the hint that he is probably not retiring from the IPL this season and is likely to appear in the 2024 season of the cash-rich league.
