Mumbai Indians selected Arjun Tendulkar in the IPL auction in 2021 for a starting bid of INR 20 lakh. Gujarat Titans expressed interest in Arjun at the mega auction held before the 2022 season a year later, but MI paid INR 30 lakhs to re-sign him.

Arjun had to wait an additional full season before making his eagerly anticipated IPL debut for Mumbai on Sunday, April 18, 2023, during their game against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium. Arjun’s IPL career did indeed get off to a winning start as MI defeated KKR by six wickets, despite the fact that he just bowled a few overs in his debut. After the match, Sachin Tendulkar, Arjun’s father, posted a “passionate” two-part message via Twitter.

In the KKR match, Arjun was assigned the important role of launching the attack because Mumbai chose to bowl first. Before Venkatesh Iyer, who eventually finished with a record tonne in KKR’s innings, took on the left-arm pacer to smash a boundary and a six, the 23-year-old gave up only 5 runs in the first over with the new ball.

Arjun concluded the game with a score of 0/23 and wasn’t called back to finish his quota. Additionally, he was denied a chance to bat.

Once the game to an end in favor of Mumbai Indians, Sachin who was a part of the team which won the IPL title in 2013 and also has a long history with MI both as a player and a mentor. The god of cricket took to Twitter to respond to his son Arjun’s IPL debut and to wish him well as he begins a new chapter in his cricket career. Later, Sara added an emotional response to Sachin’s Instagram post.

If we talk a little bit about Arjun Tendulkar’s bowling style then he has a short run up with a simple action. The 23-year-old showed glimpses of his ability to swing the ball. He will have plenty of opportunities going forward.
