FIFAe Nations Cup

The Indian contingent did not have the best of starts in the opening day of FIFAe Nations Cup 2023 at Riyadh, Saudi Arabaia. India played 5 matches on Day 1 and experienced different outcomes in each of the matches. The eTigers at the end of Day’s play are sitting at the 5th spot in Group D with 4 points to their name.

They also have a poor goal difference of (-9) as they lost 3 matches, drew 1 and won 1. Head coached by Siddh Chandrana, India played all 5 matches with Charanjot Singh and Saransh Jain in the 2v2 format. They will surely be disappointed with their performance but they do have a chance to redeem themselves on tomorrow on Day 2.

India will have to win a minimum of 3 matches at least in order to keep their chances alive for the knockout stages. The Top 4 sides from each group will proceed to the round of 16 and India’s performance today suggests that chances are pretty low.

In the opening match of the FIFAe Nations Cup 2023, the pair of Charanjot and Saransh took on Germany. After conceding a goal early on, India equalized minutes later before losing by 2-1.

The eTigers took on South Africa up next and won by a narrow margin of 1-0 before enduring back-to-back losses by (3-0) & (6-0) against Sweden and Israel respectively. The final match of Day 1 saw India play out a frustrating 1-1 draw against Peru.

FIFAe Nations Cup 2023, taking place at Riyadh Boulevard arena has a prize money of $1 Million which is double than last edition’s prize money of $500k. The tournament will conclude on July 14th. France were the 1st ever champions of the eNations cup in 2019 while Brazil are the reigning champions.

But the question is, Can India secure qualification in the Round of 16? Stay tuned for further updates.
