"Disappointed but we must hold our heads high", Virat Kohli opens up for the first time since exiting IPL 2023!

Royal Challengers Bangalore suffered a very cruel loss against Gujarat Titans during their final IPL 2023 league match which had given them a lifeline to stay in contention for the play-offs. But their hopes were crushed by a resilient Shubman Gill whose batting drove the game away from RCB’s reach.

In the 1st innings, Virat Kohli smacked 101 off 61 deliveries to help RCB post 197 but they ultimately fell 20-30 runs short in a batting friendly Chinnaswamy surface. In the 2nd innings, the home team’s bowling unit failed very badly as most of their bowlers conceded more than 7 runs per over.

All it required was a strong partnership between Shubman Gill and Vijay Shankar of 123 runs to lay the foundation for a sublime win. Shankar departed after 53 off 35 while the GT opener scored the winning runs to remain not out for 104 off 52.

One of the saddest persons after the match was former RCB captain Virat Kohli, who experienced a splendid edition with the bat. In fact it was proving to be the Indian ace batter’s 2nd most prolific season with the Bat. In 14 matches, Kohli has scored 639 runs at a strike rate of 139 powered by 2 full centuries and 6 half-centuries.

But all of it eventually went in vain. While everyone anticipated a response from him after the loss, Virat Kohli took to Twitter and made a special post for his team mates and the RCB fans. A season which had it’s moments but unfortunately we fell short of the goal. Disappointed but we must hold our heads high. To our loyal supporters, grateful for backing us every step of the way.”

Kohli’s grief is obvious. Unfortunately RCB is among the 3 franchises which is yet to win a single IPL trophy in the tournament’s 16-year-old history. Many Fans and Pundits are even asking Kohli to move to Delhi Capitals which represents the city Kohli was born.
