“100 ke itne mauke aate nahi jaldi toh…” Former Legendary Cricketer Shares Precious advice to Axar Patel

Axar Patel is one of the star all-rounders that India currently has. Although Axar is considered a bowling all-rounder as he was selected in the squad as the third spinner, he has contributed more with his bat rather than with ball. The 29 year old all-rounder missed the chance of hitting his maiden century by mere 21 against Australia in the fourth match of Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Despite not impressing much with his bowling in the series as he managed to take only two wickets in 7 innings of four test matches, the all-rounder has gained no.3 position of leading run scorers in the series. With scoring 265 runs from 5 innings, He is just behind the ace Australian opener Usman Khwaja and star Indian batter Virat Kohli.

Axar has scored runs with a batting average of 88.00. He posted 79 runs off 113 with the help of five 4s and four 6s. However, he failed to reach three mark figures. And this was for the third time. Axar is still ahead of Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara in terms of making runs in the series.

After Axar failed to score his first maiden hundred against Australia, former legendary Indian Batter Sunil Gavaskar had shared his valuable advice with the all-rounder. He advised him to not miss the chance as he does not get many chances to reach that figure. He advised him to avail the opportunity next time.

“Agli baar century miss mat kariyega. Kyunki 100 ke itne mauke aate nahi jaldi, toh jab aata hain toh chodiye mat. (Next time, don’t miss out on the century. There are very few times when you get close to a ton and when you do grab the opportunity),” Gavaskar told Axar.
