Rohit Sharma blasted this former India head coach on the team's over-confidence remarks!

1st day of the all important 4th Test of the Border-Gavaskar trophy 2023 begins from tomorrow as India aims to secure a spot in the ICC World Test Championship final 2023 at Oval. The final tests will take place at the World’s largest Cricket stadium – Narendra Modi Stadium at Gujarat.

India have a must win game in hand after losing the 3rd Test by 9 wickets. Although the hosts are currently leading the BGT by 2-1 but that would mean nothing if they lose or even play out a draw against Steve Smith’s side. If they lose or draw, then India will have to hope New Zealand gets a result in their favor against Sri-Lanka in the 2-match test series which also starts from tomorrow.

One of the things to notice in this edition’s BGT is that all the 3 tests have ended in the 3rd day. The first 2 tests at Nagpur and Delhi were won by Rohit Sharma’s side in an one-sided affair while the visitors fought back superbly at Indore.

Before we find out the conclusion of BGT, former India head coach Ravi Shashtri made some comments about the team after their loss at Indore and indicated towards a possible sense of over-confidence which led to the massive loss. “This is what a little complacency, a little bit of overconfidence can do. When you take things for granted, you drop guard and this game will bring you down.” – said Shahstri after India’s loss.

Shashtri also slammed Indian batters for their over-eagerness to dominate and play rash shots without any reason. In response, Indian captain Rohit Sharma denied Ravi Shashtri’s claim and said –

“All these guys, when they talk about being overconfident, especially when they are not part of the dressing room, they don’t know what sort of conversations happen. Ruthless is the word that comes to my mind, we don’t want to give any inch to the opposition. Oppositions never let you come into the series when you tour abroad. We want to do that. If it seems overconfident to people outside then we can’t do anything. Ravi himself has been a part of this dressing room, he knows what conversations we have, what mindset we have.”
