Top 05 Players with Most Sixes at Arun Jaitley Stadium in IPL

In the heart of India’s capital, Delhi, stands a towering stadium which is a venue where cricketing figures were built, and records were created – the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Originally known as Feroz Shah Kotla, the stadium has witnessed a complete transformation in the evolution of the game. It was established in 1883, and later renamed as Arun Jaitley stadium, which is managed by the politicised Delhi & Districts Cricket Association (DDCA). This ground has witnessed a number of feats, from Kapil Dev’s fiery spells to Virat Kohli’s master innings. The former name was attributed because of the fort located nearby since the Mughal era. The interesting trivia is that this is the second oldest fully operational international cricket ground in India, after the Eden Gardens of Kolkata.

This iconic venue has made itself as a popular landmark in the capital and boats of a rich glory associated with the game of cricket. Though several matches have been played here until now, but the home team Delhi Capitals hasn’t quite been able to establish it as their invincible fort. The franchise has rather had a rollercoaster ride so far. The stadium has retained the spirit of its storied past while embracing a modern identity, which is seen over the years through Indian Premier League (IPL). In over 94 Indian Premier League matches played as of now, the ground’s surface has shown a balanced approach for both batters and bowlers. Although batters have had a slightly more favourable outcome, the fast bowlers aren’t too far behind either. With spinners too, there has been some respite with occasional favourable conditions thanks to the dry nature of the pitch. Chasing on this ground has shown more positive results courtesy the dew factor. In recent years, the venue has seen more flat tracks and shorter boundaries, which has led to high-scoring targets being set and the IPL setting new standards every year. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) proved it when they smashed a whopping 266 runs against Delhi Capitals in one of the matches in 2024. This remains the highest team total scored on this ground against the Delhi side on their own home ground. Chris Gayle and Rishabh Pant hold the joint record for scoring the highest individual scores so far, of 128 not out. In the history of Indian Premier League, right from the inaugural season in April 2008 until the ongoing IPL 2025 edition, the Arun Jaitley stadium has hosted a total of 94 matches, with teams batting first winning 46 times and teams chasing emerging victorious on 47 occasions, while one match ended with no result.
