05 Reasons why Delhi Capitals deserves to win the IPL 2025 title this year?
The IPL has had its fair share of successful franchises, with Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians being the most successful teams in the league’s history and being the joint winners with five titles to their name each.
However, some teams might not have won any title in the Indian Premier League yet and can be termed as the underachievers in the tournament. One such team is the Delhi Capitals (DC), who are still on the hunt for their first title in the ongoing 18th edition. The last 17 editions have been similar to a roller coaster ride, where they have made it to the playoffs six times, out of which one was a final in the 2020 season which they lost in disappointment to MI.
The Capitals started their 2025 campaign with a thrilling win over Lucknow Super Giants in the opening game and have remained unbeaten in the next two games as well, the only side so far.

1. In Form KL Rahul and Axar Patel
KL Rahul, an experienced captain in the IPL history (with Kings XI Punjab and LSG in previous seasons) and Axar Patel as the first-time skipper make for the perfect combination of talent, skill and strength.
Rahul has been one of the most consistent batters in the IPL and owns a truckload of runs. His versatility to bat up or down the order is a huge asset for the Delhi side. Axar Patel has become a main asset for Team India in white-ball cricket. He has also raised his level as a batter, making him a potent all-rounder.
Both have proven their ability to perform under pressure in the past, and with their current form shining bright, the duo can not only anchor the innings for their side but also win games when required.
2. Deep Batting Lineup
The one thing the Capitals were missing in the last two seasons was the amount of depth in their batting. This time around they have worked on it and strengthened the lineup for the team. Fraser-McGurk as an opener and the likes of Tristan Stubbs, Faf Du Plessis and Ashutosh Sharma as down the order give more scope to choose.
Abishek Porel and KL Rahul provide more meat and substance. These names work as flexible options while setting the batting lineup, despite Harry Brooks opting out from the squad at the last minute.

It is always said that while batters might win the games, but it is the bowlers that help win tournaments. This is where the Capitals have some talented bowlers in the setup who are capable of taking wickets at any stage of the game. The likes of Mitchell Starc as the bowling leader, Kuldeep Yadav, and Mohit Sharma are some of the names who are capable of breaking partnerships in the game.

DC’s biggest strength this season that can lead them to claim their maiden IPL title could be the ability of the youngsters to handle pressure and deliver perfectly with the job at hand.
