With focus on white ball cricket and 50 Over World Cup 2023 in mind BCCI to start shadow Tour soon; Report

BCCI

India now leads the series 2-0, and BCCI is concentrating on organizing the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, with the third match scheduled for March 1st, 2023, in Indore.

The BCCI will also host a full-fledged season of the WPL and IPL in 2023 following the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

The top franchise teams from Men’s and Women’s sports will face off for the coveted title.

With focus on upcoming white ball series and 50 over World Cup 2023 which will be scheduled in India, BCCI will certainly resume for shadow cricket tours.

The question arises what is Shadow Cricket Tours?

Shadow Cricket Tours can be explained in simple words as the country where the senior team is travelling to play cricket will also prompt India A cricketers to go for the same tour.

India A team plays bilateral series ahead of the main team so that they can prepare and acclimatize in the future.

“Apart from the WTC (World Test Championship) final this year, the focus will be on ODIs till the World Cup. That’s why A team’s tour for red ball matches can happen only after November. In December-January, India has to tour to play a Test series against South Africa in the next World Test Championship cycle. In such a situation, there is every possibility that India A’s ‘shadow tour’ will be restored before this” said inside BCCI Sources.

The concept will again resume in the month of June 2023 when the World Test Championship final will be held so India A team will certainly get a game ahead of World Test Championship finals.

As 50 Over World Cup is organized in India so it won’t be easy for Men in Blue to lift title under their own backyard.
