Asia Cup 2023: After BCCI received support from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh ; Team India will not be travelling to Pakistan for the marquee event; Report

Things are getting worse for Pakistan Cricket Board as Bangladesh and Sri Lankan boards have reportedly offered their support to BCCI based on sources quoted in various media outlets, indicating that India will not be visiting Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023, which is scheduled to take place in Pakistan.

Current PCB President Najam Sethi has already reiterated their position, indicating that Men in Green would not travel to India for the World Cup, which is slated to take place in India later this year, if India did not travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup.

“In case of India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan to compete in the Asia Cup, chances are there that the Pakistan government would not allow the Men in Green to cross the borders for their World Cup participation. In that case, cricket will be the ultimate sufferer,” Sethi said.

“There should be a middle way to solve problems that surely threaten the smooth hosting of ICC and ACC events. In case of India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup, the government will not allow us to travel to India to figure in the World Cup matches,” he added.

There is another report which indicates that, PCB would need written assurances from BCCI and ICC that India will be travelling to Pakistan for Champions Trophy 2025 then only board will send Men in Green Players to India for the upcoming World Cup 2023.

Asia Cup 2023, has already become talk of the town, as the controversy has errupted big time, and several statements emerging from officials from both sides have made things turned sour.

It will be interesting to see how the match will panned out when both teams will compete against each other in the upcoming marquee event.
