BCCI awaiting for Rishabh Pant’s comeback so that they can make him India’s Test Vice Captain: Saba Karim

Rishabh Pant and Saba Karim

The third match of India’s Border-Gavaskar Trophy series is scheduled for March 1st, 2023, at Indore.

The match was originally scheduled to take place at Dharamshala, but due to a soggy outfield, the location was changed to Indore.

Gujarat will play host to the series’ last game.

India has already won the Border-Gavaskar series by a score of 2-0, and they intend to increase their lead to 3-0 in the remaining games.

When India wins the series 3-0, they will automatically qualify for the World Test Championship final.

Australia has already qualified as one of the WTC finalists, and they will likely compete against Men in Blue on June 20, 2023, at Oval for the coveted trophy.

India will be seeking to add a WTC trophy to their collection as they haven’t won anything in the last 10 years and the conditions in Oval will be fairly similar to Australia.

The last prize Rohit Sharma and company won was the Champions Trophy in 2013, when MS Dhoni was captain, and it had been ten years since they had done it.

Speaking of another event, KL Rahul was removed as vice captain in the BCCI’s team announcement for the most recent two test matches due to his underwhelming performance with the willow.

The irony is that no vice captain was named during that time. In response to questions that have been raised, Saba Karim said that the BCCI management would be looking to name Rishabh Pant the new vice captain once the star wicketkeeper-batsman returns from his injury and is on the road to recovery and rehabilitation.

It will be interesting to see whether Pant will be handed over vice captaincy duties once he makes comeback in the game.
