In the IPL 2023, Royal Challengers Bangalore overcame Lucknow Supergiants. However, what transpired following the game made the news. Gautam Gambhir, the team manager for the LSG, and Virat Kohli got in an argument that was heated. The two individuals had already exchanged harsh words with one another previously. In fact, Gambhir was seen predicted an eventual fight with Kohli in an old video.

In a previous interview with NDTV, Gautam Gambhir was questioned about his relationship with Virat Kohli in light of their frequent on-field altercations. The former KKR captain responded by saying that nothing between the two of them was personal and that everything was just a part of the game.

“I just want to make one thing clear. When you are playing against opposition, when you are playing against each other you got to be aggressive for your team. As a leader if you want your team to be aggressive you got to be aggressive as well.

The BCCI punished Virat Kohli, Gautam Gambhir, and Naveen-ul-Haq severely for breaking the IPL Code of Conduct during the Lucknow Super Giants vs. Royal Challengers Bangalore game on Monday at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.

“You can only expect your team to play the way you want. There was nothing personal. Even if we had some arguments on the field, we’ve met very nicely off the field as well. This is what professional people do, this is what professional sportsmen do as well.” – Gambhir said.

Although the renowned or notorious duo Kohli and Gambhir were each handed down 100% of their match fees after they were determined guilty of a Level 2 offence, the Afghanistan International lost 50% of his match fees for a Level 1 offence. Naveen, Kohli, and Gambhir all admitted misconduct and agreed to be punished.

“Tomorrow if I play Virat again, and if I have to be aggressive, I will be aggressive. That’s the kind of personality I have, and that’s the way I want to play the game as well. We are pretty good firmds, we will be pretty good fieds as well, but not on the cricket field. Off the field we can chat about a lot of things and discuss a lot of other matters as well. But on the cricket field its serious business.” – he added.
