LSG Vs PBKS : Marcus Stoinis set to undergo surgery for finger Injury with his return to IPL 2023 at stake!

Lucknow Super Giants came back to winning ways against Punjab Kings last night at the Lions’ Den at Mohali. Kl Rahul’s side suffered a cruel loss against reigning champions Gujarat Titans while chasing a very low total. Everything was going well for LSG until the final over where they required less than 20 runs.

GT seamer Mohit Sharma changed the complextion of the match in the final over as 4 wickets were taken in that over. And last night against Shikhar Dhawan’s Punjab Kings, Lucknow Super Giants registered the 2nd highest score in an innings and there could not have been a better return.

Runs came flooding through the Bats of Kyle Mayers, Ayush Badoni, Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran. All the 4 Batters shared 214 runs between and scored most of the total of 257. Badoni and Pooran missed out from half-centuries as they scored 43 and 45 respectively.

Mayers and Stoinis on the other hand were the superstars. The West Indies left-handed opener smacked 54 off 24 deliveries while the Australian Hulk, Marcus Stoinis amassed 72 off 40 at a strike rate of 180.

After a splendid job with the Bat, LSG restricted Punjab Kings to 201 to win by 56 runs and Marcus Stoinis starred with the ball too before sustaining an unfortunate finger injury.

When Stoinis attempted to block an Atharva Taide shot in the second over, he was struck in the left index finger. Stoinis quickly collapsed to his knees in agony, and after receiving initial treatment from the physio, he stepped off the pitch.

For his All-round performance, Stoinis received the man of the match award and also spoke about his Injury. “It’s been better but yeah, it is what it is. We will get a scan later.” – Stoinis said.

When Stoinis was asked about the surface at Punjab then he said it was totally different than the pitch they get at Ekana Stadium, LSG’s home ground. “We were joking about the difference between that and our surface at home, and how we can cash in and take advantage of this beautiful batting wicket. No, I wasn’t thinking about 250. I don’t think Ayush was either. We were just trying to build a partnership. He got off to a flyer as well and was hitting some nice shots; he’s a very talented player.” – Stoinis conlcuded.
