IPL 2021: Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal will Open for RCB, confirms Mike Hesson

Royal Challengers Bangalore who is always in trend whenever IPL resume and it is mainly because of two star players in their lineup which is skipper Virat Kohli and star batsman Ab De Villiers.

The loyal fans have been patiently waiting for RCB to clinch their first IPL title this year. As Kohli hinted during India-England last t20 match in a post match presentation that he will be opening in the IPL upcoming season for RCB which will serve as a perfect platform for him to analyze his game as an opener in the upcoming T20 World Cup scheduled in India later this year.

Hesson who is serving as the director of cricket operations for RCB confirms that Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal will open the innings for his team in IPL 2021. 

” I am going to open in the IPL as well. Have batted in different positions in the past. But I feel we have a solid middle-order now. Will definitely like to partner Rohit at the top. Other guys feel a lot more confident when one of us is still in and is set. Augurs well for the team,” the 31-year-old had said then.

Kohli record as an opener for RCB is phenomenal as they tried Paddikal and Finch last year but they both failed to give ideal start in IPL 2020. It will be interesting to see how Kohli approach his innings at the top in the upcoming edition of cash rich league for RCB.

“We are looking forward to seeing Padikkal – Kohli opening the batting, the record of Kohli is phenomenal after he gets through the powerplay and we saw how well he did in the 5th T20 after opening the batting,” he said according to RCB’s official website.
