Rishabh Pant Seeks Help From Kiran More to Refine His Wicket-Keeping Skills

Picking Wriddhiman Saha over Rishabh Pant was front-page headline prior to the start of the first test. Rumours had it that the wicket-keeper batsman will have to sweat in the sun and play the domestic games to fine-tune his wicket-keeping and batting, though it wasn’t the case.

The drop episode was a warning to Pant to take his position in the squad seriously, otherwise, there is always a replacement. He has already started fine-tuning wicket-keeping skills under Kiran More, the man behind MS Dhoni’s call up to the International scene.

The team management feels the wicket-keeper need to improve his wicket-keeping skills behind the wicket when it comes to red-ball matches in Indian conditions.

Though Kiran More hails Pant’s skill behind the wicket, saying that the Delhi wicket-keeper is a great learner and will improve with time.

“We have worked on his balance and his hand positioning because he has a terrific cricketing mind and picks things up very quickly. We have worked on small finer details. Hand and body positioning is very important and it takes time. With experience, you learn.” Kiran More said.

It seemed Kiran More had shot for every delivery as when asked about Pant wicket-keeping skills and questioned his record after 11 tests, More replied, “He has been playing for India for the last one and a half years. Everybody has their perception, but for me, he is ready. You can go through my record after 11 games, he has a fantastic record,”
